Non si trovano reperti di cani risalenti a oltre 15.000 anni fa, solo di lupo. Le oltre 340 razze canine attuali discendono tutte da lupi addomesticati nelle steppe dell'Asia centrale, rendendolo uno dei più grandi esperimenti genetici mai effettuati dall'uomo e frutto di millenni di selezioni.
Non è un intervento a senso unico, sia il lupo che il cavallo erano predisposti a questo "incontro". La popolazione che nel passato fosse riuscita ad addomesticare i rinoceronti avrebbe dominato la Terra, ma i rinoceronti non lo hanno consentito.
Il nostro corpo, fisiologicamente come è ora, esiste da oltre 200.000 anni, ma per tantissimo di tale tempo abbiamo solo "camminato" su questa Terra. Negli ultimi millenni abbiamo cominciato ad agire intensamente sulla vita e sull'ambiente anche in maniera devastante: l'estinzione della megafauna Australiana e di quella Americana coincidono tutte con l'arrivo di Homo Sapiens in quei territori. Quindi, se fino a poco tempo fa il massimo che sarebbe potuto accadere sarebbe stata la selezione di alcune specie, l'estinzione di altre o la sconfitta di grandi battaglie a farci diventare humus o nutrimento per la terra, la situazione oggi è molto cambiata.
Oggi possiamo dare alle fiamme questo Bellissimo Giardino, con tutto quello che vive al suo interno, oggi, come un bambino, possiamo davvero rompere l'orologio, senza avere la possibilità di ricostruirlo.
Ma siamo una specie con grandi risorse e possiamo fare un passo decisivo: quello di amare. Amare non solo chi ci è vicino e contraccambia il nostro amore con occhi fiduciosi, bensì amare tutto il Bellissimo Giardino e tutti i suoi abitanti, anche quelli che ci fanno paura.
Se la Conoscenza ci ha portato a essere padroni, l'Amore ci aiuterà a diventare custodi.
KEEPERS
There are no finds of dogs that date back 15,000, before that it was only wolves. The current dog breeds, which number goes over 340, all descend from wolves domesticated in the steppes of Central Asia; one of the greatest genetic experiments ever carried out by mankind and the result of millennia of selections.
It is not a one-way intervention though, both the wolf and the horse were bound to have this "encounter". People who managed to domesticate rhinos in the past would have dominated the earth, but the rhinos didn't allow it.
Our body, as it is now physiologically speaking, has existed for over 200,000 years: we have "walked" on this Earth for a very long time. Only in the last few years have we begun to act intensely on life and the environment, even in a devastating way: the extinction of the Australian and the American megafauna all coincide with the arrival of Homo Sapiens in those territories. However, if until recently the best that could happen would have been the selection of some species or the extinction of others and if in our great battles the worst was to become Humus and nourishment for the earth, the situation has changed a lot today.
Today we can set this Beautiful Garden on fire, with every being that lives inside it. Today, just like a clueless child, we can actually break the clock, without any way to go back on it.
We are a species with great resources though and we can make a decisive step: that of Loving. To love not only those who are close to us and reciprocate our love with loving and trusting eyes, rather to love the whole Beautiful Garden in its entirety and all its inhabitants, even those who scare us.
If Knowledge has led us to be masters, Love will help us to become keepers.
